OK…I am really getting into the ATV racer Pure.
Relaunching the blog I decided I would weave in some of my favorite things and at some point I will discuss in detail my favorite series of games, which is Burnout, including Burnout Revenge and Burnout Paradise.
I’ve always kept an eye out for games that had that Burnout aura. And its hard to break down, but basically that aura is a fast racing game that controls well, has variety and makes you a better racer than perhaps you are. Many of the Burnout games share those attributes.
Most racing games I have tried, PGR4, Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, etc. give a little too much detail and simulation. I just want to jump in and race. Even games like Grid which display fantastic graphics, well I am not all that into racing on a sectioned off street either.
So I have been playing Pure for several days now and its great. I have an XBox 360 and PS3 (and Wii) but I am playing on the 360 and so far the game gets a big thumbs up. Produced by Disney Interactive Studios and Blackrock Studio the game has stunning visuals with tight very responsive gameplay.
Most racing games are too loose and hard to control, or too tight like you are on the rails, but this one strikes a great balance. You can download the demo and take it for a spin. I am on the first few levels but so far it seems not too hard and not too easy, again just right. And there is a dizzying array of options to build your ATV so you can pimp stuff out very nicely.
Plus the best part of the game…its kinda wild! Like Burnout there is a real sense of edge and great sense of speed. Highly recommended.
